Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents named her Winona after her hometown. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder, who considers herself Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County in California, when she was just seven. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder was an avid bookworm and would spend her days reading books because there was no TV. Ryder began to take acting classes in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12. When she was 15, Ryder landed her first part on the screen in Lucas. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actress could make a difference. However, that didn't happen. However, she pushed on with her dream. Beetlejuice, a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major breakthrough. Ryder was later cast in numerous roles that were successful. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence.
